Dream Do Come True
Kimani
By: Lisa Ward
SM: Kimani, it is my honor to have you stop in and we welcome you. So how are you doing and how was your summer break?
Kimani: My summer break was great! As some people know I spend all of my down time in Brooklyn, NY. So it’s always awesome to have that down time away.
SM: What is your major in High School?
Kimani: I actually study law (Legal Administration Assistant) and the reason why I do that is because it’s never a bad idea to have multiple studies just in case one thing doesn’t work out.
SM: There are a lot of young people who want to follow in your footsteps. A lot of teens do not know it’s more to fame than what they see on television, movies and videos. Would you say the path that you have chosen to go is it an easy one or a lot of hard work?
Kimani: I would definitely say it’s a lot of work! Especially staying motivated because there are always going to be times where things may be moving slow but having what I call “The double P’s” is the key and that is patience and persistence . As long as you have those two things you will get through many obstacles in life.
SM: I have seen a lot of your work. I have talked with your manger Valeda Stevenson and your music teacher Crystal Simms. You are a very amazing and respectful person/entertainer. What keeps you so grounded?
Kimani: Well one thing is that both of my grandmothers have shared with me is having humility. One of my favorite ways to remember the word HUMILITY is by a poem. Humbled is, Using less when you have More and never boasting I have and you don’t. Looking around and having gratitude. Interest wanes when spotlight shines Time does a humble man tell Youth spent giving heart, body and time. Remembering that keeps me grounded!
SM: Kimani, what is it like to work with and for the one and only Tyler Perry?
Kimani: It was definitely a blessing to work with someone so humbled and just always caring for other people and blessing others. Definitely a dream comes true for me!
SM: Now Kimani, I am a Tyler Perry fan and supporter from going to the plays to buying them. He has done so much for up and coming actors/artists. So what does it feel like personally to have worked with one of history’s iconic producers, actors and directors of this time?
Kimani: Amazing! Mr. Perry is just a genius with music, directing, and acting. It’s crazy how talented he is. It’s definitely one accomplishment I can check off my list!
SM: What have you learned from working with and under Mr. Perry? Kimani: I’ve learned how to be a better actor as well as never give up on your dreams.
