By:  Dr. Tameka "Doc" Wright

Greetings Mr. Greg “Uncle G” Lyons, how are you doing?

Great, thanks for having me.

Great, you have treated us at Secdum Magazine so well we feel like family. Can I call you “Uncle G”?

Yes!!

Awesome!

I know you are a busy man and you have a lot going on, so I would like to thank you for taking the time to sit down with us and allowing us to interview you.

SM: Tell us a little bit about yourself “Uncle G”, who you are and where you are from?

Uncle G:  Well my name is Gregory Lyons, I’m an entrepreneur, a father of three and my kids names are Gregory, Amor, & Amir.I’m married and my wife name is Tiesha.  We all live in Houston Texas, when I’m not working I’m with my family or watching sports. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.

SM:  Your business is named Uncle G Promotion and Entertainment, how did you get started in your own business and what made you want to own your own business?

Uncle G:  I got started about nine years ago in radio promotions, artist management, and artist development.  I just decided to go out on my own because I’ve worked for labels for over 15 years prior to that and after other individuals from various labels started recognizing my work, and inquired about my service, it was about time for me to go out independently.

SM:  What are some of the other services you provide in your company?

Uncle G:  Uncle G Promotions& Entertainment does radio tracking, artist development, artist management, bookings, and set-up promo and national tours.

SM:  What exactly is radio promotions and tracking? What does it consist of?

Uncle G:  Radio Promotions gives artist an opportunity to promote themselves as well as their music.  Radio tracking is when you have a song on the radio and its being monitored for air play.  It consist of a radio promotor making phone calls on the artist behalf in order to get their songs played on various radio stations around the country.

SM:  You have a unique nickname in “Uncle G”, how did you get that name?

Uncle G:  Throughout my work with “No Limit Records”, with my nephew Master P, he always was calling me Uncle G or Uncle Greg so it just caught on around the industry and everybody just started referring to me as Uncle G.  I just became everybody’s uncle around the country.
